An evening at Gold in Cape Town. If you visit Cape Town, you may hear everyone talking about the Gold restaurant, where it’s necessary to book weeks in advance. This restaurant is often fully booked, so it’s imperative to reserve before your stay.

However, despite the quality and quantity of African food, it’s definitely a tourist trap. If you have high expectations for the entertainment side, you might be disappointed, just like I was. I’ve seen better performances at all-inclusive resorts in Varadero.

The 4-5 performances are quite mediocre and mostly rushed. The only thing I liked was the drumming lesson at the beginning of the evening, even before the first dishes were served. So, arrive early if you don’t want to miss the best part of the entertainment at Gold.

Gold restaurant offers an African experience. Located in Cape Town, an evening at Gold is an immersive experience that will take you on a 14-course taste safari, accompanied by traditional Malian puppets and entertainment.

I enjoyed my evening because I was in good company. But would I do it again? No, it’s really not my thing. I found it all too touristy and lacking authenticity. So it’s up to you to decide if it suits you or appeals to you. Is it a must-do? Not for me. So don’t worry if you didn’t get the chance to book.
